A Brief Background of the Seminar
Destinations will have to make a choice in terms of
- whether they want few mega attractions or
- large number of small ventures that are different in their own way and from each other
The social, political and cultural environment of certain regions make them predisposed to the latter rather than the former.
Such predispositions can be strengthened and accelerated if stories of such ventures are given wider publicity.
Of course, that has to be done without sidelining the discussion on whether such a route will
- Ensure sustainability and also
- Bring in equitable distribution of benefits of tourism
First Day of the Seminar is for Presentation of Case Studies written by College Students on such Small and Medium Tourism Enterprises.
The Second Day of the Seminar is for interaction of academia, entrepreneurs and policy makers on the same theme.
